Terms of use
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This English version is provided for convenience; the French version prevails.
1. The service
Grillo (grillostitch.com), published by FOXTROP (see the legal notice), makes cross-stitch charts readable, turns photos into charts with DMC thread numbers, saves the charts it makes and tracks your stitching. By using Grillo you accept these terms.
During the beta the service is free. Paid offers (subscription, one-off purchase, charts to download) may be introduced; they will come with separate terms of sale, shown before any payment. Existing free features may be limited, but you will always be able to retrieve what you saved.
2. Your account
An account is optional. It is created with an e-mail address (sign-in link) or a Google account. You are responsible for access to your mailbox, which is the key to your account. You can delete your account at any time from My account. Accounts are for people aged 15 and over, or with a parent’s consent.
3. Files you upload
Only upload files you are allowed to use: a chart you bought or received for personal use, a photo you took or may use, your own design. Don’t upload unlawful content.
You keep ownership of your files, and charts remain the property of their designers. Grillo only uses them to provide the service you ask for, doesn’t publish them and erases them after one hour (see the privacy policy).
4. Charts made by Grillo
- A designer’s chart made readable: the Grillo version is for your personal use only, like the original. Don’t share or sell it: respect designers’ work.
- A chart made from your photo: it’s yours to use, within the rights you have over the photo itself.
DMC colours are approximate (DMC publishes no official values) and skein counts are estimates. Compare with a colour card before buying and check the chart before stitching, especially for scans and photos.
5. Availability and liability
Grillo does its best to keep the service running and its results accurate, but the service is provided as is, in beta, and may be interrupted (maintenance, outages). Keep a copy of files that matter to you. To the extent permitted by law, Grillo is not liable for indirect damage arising from use of the service (for example thread bought on the basis of an estimate). Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
6. Fair use
Don’t try to disrupt the service, get around its limits or access other people’s data. In case of abuse, access to the service or the account may be suspended, with notice except in an emergency.
7. Reporting content
If you believe a use of Grillo infringes your rights (for example as a chart designer), write to [email protected].
8. Grillo’s property
The site, its code, logo, texts and cricket design belong to the publisher. The cricket may be stitched freely for personal use.
9. Changes
These terms may change. The update date is shown at the top; account holders will be told about significant changes.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. If there’s a problem, write to us first: most issues are easily solved. Otherwise, the competent courts are those provided by law, in particular those of your place of residence if you are a consumer.
